WHAT A BIZARRE WORLD

What a bizarre world we live in at the moment. Corruption and perversion are on the rise more than ever. It’s blatant, and the worst part about it is that it’s openly allowed.

War is now changing, becoming less conventional. It still results in death and destruction, but now its labelled "hybrid war. We are experiencing a fusion of war, terror and crime.

Biblical morality and telling the truth are seen not only by the governments but even with more emphasis by the media as more dangerous than pornography and abortion. Any comment or expression that it is not in line with the status tidings is censored or outright banned. If anyone has the guts to stray away from the narrative, the woken mob will eat its own making the 'cancel culture' well alive.

There are not so many people or even organisations that are willing to take on the mob, fearing banishment or demotion.

Isn't time one should take a stand? Isn't time that we should be dedicated to the truth. Doesn't truth sets one free?

Paul wrote the following: "Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God?" (Galatians 1:10)

Do we spend our lives trying to please everybody? Paul had to speak harshly to Christians in Galatia because they were in serious danger. He did not apologise for his straight-forward words knowing that he could not serve Christ faithfully if he allowed the Christian Galatians to remain on the wrong track.

After all, whose approval are we seeking? Others' or God's?

Opposition to truth is nothing new. Throughout history, Christians faced the choice between pleasing men or pleasing God. Luke in Acts 5:29 says: "We must obey God rather than men"

We should know our priorities. While we should try to live at peace with everyone, conflict with the world and its authorities is sometimes inevitable. There will be times or situations where we cannot obey both God and man.

Happily, we know how this will end. God laughs at mankind's war against Him, as seen in Psalm 2: "Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against His anointed One. 'Let us break their chains,' they say, 'and throw off their fetters.' The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them." (verses1-4)

God laughs, not at the nations, but at their confused thoughts about power. It is the laugher of a father when his three year old boasts that he or she can outrun him or beat him in a wrestling match. The father knows of the limited strength of his child, and God know the boundaries of power of the nations. Every nation is limited, but God is Omnipotent. Therefore, it's no brainer to chose between confidence in God and confidence in any nation. Pride and power cause nations to rebel against God and try to break free of Him. Many world leaders boast of their power, rant and rave against God and His people and promise to take over and form their own empires. But God laughs because any power they have comes from Him, and He can also take it from them. We need not fear the boasts of the tyrants - they are in God's hands and will be judged by Him.

People often think they will be free if they can get away from God. Yet, inevitably, everyone serves somebody or something whether a human king, an organisation, or even one's own selfish desires. Just as a fish is not free when it leaves the water, we are not free if we leave the Lord.
