TIME SPENT WISELY

It is a fact that our lives do not run but fly along at a very fast pace. How many of us have realised that the last five, ten or twenty years are gone in a flash? Certainly the majority have also realised that it is far better to use our time wisely and be productive so that we will not be looking back with regret.

Any lost seconds, minutes, hours, days or years are never regained.

We all must make the conscious decision that we all must make the most of our own time. As soon as we have realised this, we will also come to the conclusion that time is not to be wasted in idling inaction or just drifting along with whatever comes to us.

Let us study two very important passages of advice from the Bible.

Proverbs 6:10 "A little sleep, a little slumber. a little folding of the hands to rest - and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man."

If laziness turn us from our responsibilities, poverty may soon bar us from legitimate rest we should enjoy. More specifically it's telling us that poverty and need is a result of not using time wisely.

Ecclesiastes 12:1 "Remember your Creator in the days of your youth before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, 'I find no pleasure in them'."

We need to remember that a life without God can produce a bitter, lonely and hopeless old age. We need to remember our Creator when we are young and full of energy before the difficult days come and the years in which you have no pleasure. I know that being young is exciting, but the excitement of youth can become a barrier to closeness with God if it makes young people focus on passing pleasures instead of eternal values. Time must not be wasted on evil or meaningless activities that become bad habits and make you callous.

Many people say “if only” or “I should have” or “I wish I could do that over again.” Life does not let us turn back the clock. It’s far better to use our time wisely and be productive so that we will not be looking back with regret.
