NOTHING VENTURED, NOTHING GAINED

Since our very young age, during school and everyday life as we grew up, we heard this common expression. How often have we heard these words?
Someone once said, "Look before you leap, but strive to leap!
It is one of our life dilemmas the question that so many ask to themselves and others of how true it is that if we fear taking a risk, we will not make progress.
We all know that life is full of risks and dangers. The simple exercise of crossing a street or getting up every morning accentuates this fact.
In the parable of the loaned money in Mathew 25:20, Jesus obviously expected people to enter into ventures in order to gain. The last man was thinking only of himself. He hoped to play it safe and protect himself from his hard master, but he was judged for his self-centeredness. Jesus was displeased with this man who had buried the little he had and gained nothing.
On the other side, Jesus also gave good advice to those who are entering a venture. He said in Luke 14:28, that one must be sure to count the cost so that you have enough to complete the task. When a builder doesn't count the cost or estimates it inaccurately, the building may be left incomplete.
It is wise then, to that which we risk, ought to have a good chance of bringing gain. Obviously that will require the effort to gather the information needed and come to know as much as possible about the venture.
Look before you leap, but strive to leap!
