GOOD AND EVIL

Sunday morning, going through the TV channels, I ended up watching a documentary about "good" and "evil" on SABC2 narrated by Morgan Freeman.

He stressed the importance of scientific approach on psychopathic behaviour to reason why certain people cannot stop in doing "evil". He, with the help of a world authority and brain specialist who is doing scientific research of the human brain, interviewed a rapist and murderer sentenced to life imprisonment in order to find out why he did it, if there was any remorse and if there was a chance of "change" if put back in the streets.

Morgan Freeman went on to travel to different parts of the world where there is still the presence of the ancient 'Egyptian days' as well as the present religious traits of Zoroastrianism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Muslim and Christianity, as he tried to decipher the origins of "good" and "evil".

With scientific approach, he went from programs touching young children to adults, culminating with the moral, ethical and spiritual change of a "bad person" (in this case, a fascist skinhead gang member) to a "good person".

There is hope after all.

Hope was the last sentiment in a world in a chaotic state.

Fake news. Politicians exaggerate and communicate shady stories to fit their purposes with flat out lies. The pretense of objectivity by different news organizations is no longer there. Honesty and objectivity left on the last train and political correctness has taken over the media platforms.

What is happening to our world?

It appears the Cold War is on again. The Middle East remains in turmoil and threatens to spill over into a worldwide conflict.

South American continent is also in the limelight with Venezuela.

Trust in governments and the media have sunk to new lows.

The reality is obvious. Values that guided our world for centuries are being replaced with political correctness gone wild. True speech on good, moral and ethical grounds is dying, as few risk the consequences on crossing the line of some political trends.

If a movie was to be made today regarding the world, the most appropriate title would definitely be "It's a mad, mad world", but, in contrast to the 1960's movie with the same title, this is no comedy.

Western world's culture has been real damaged becoming dangerous and frightening. Anarchism is taking over very important cities of the world.

If the last generation was to come back to life, they would be shocked to see the state of our world today.

However, fake news, political correctness and violence are not new. They can be found in Christianity. Jesus encouraged disciples when He said, "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me."(Mathew 5:11)

Are our attitudes a carbon copy of the world's selfishness, pride and lust for power, or do they reflect the humility and self-sacrifice of our King, Jesus Christ.

The apostle Paul tell us that there is an evil spirit guiding the direction of our world.

Let's not fool ourselves, there is an all out war against the bible and the One who inspired it. This is serious!

People are choosing right now to follow Jesus or to choose fake Christianity. Christians are being pressured more and more to accept fake narratives, whether secular or religious. Jesus' teachings are being distorted very quickly. The Apostle Paul warned the Ephesians' church, "I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come among you and will not spare the flock. Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them."

It's real. False accusations and fake news are tools against the followers of Christ, then and now.

One way that Satan deceives mankind is by blinding us to the exciting purpose God has for us.

What is the purpose of life? Do you know? Does your neighbour know? The truth is that few do. Most who claim some form of Christianity hold a vague view of going to heaven after they die, they not sure about heaven.

It's simple! I can categorically state that many of the problems we see in the present world go away if people understood the reality of God and understood the purpose of His amazing plan.
