(part 3)
One of many examples is Psalm 83, where the central theme is 'combating God's enemies'. This prayer is directed to God to do whatever it takes to convince the world that He is indeed God. And someday all will recognize and admit that God was , is and always be in charge.
This Psalm predicts an end-time Arab confederation allied, however temporarily, with Assyria (Germany), that will seek to destroy Israel as well as the Jews' descendants.
The 'purpose' of this alliance corresponds with what Isaiah say in chapter 10: verses 5,6 "Woe to the Assyrian, the rod of my anger, in whose hand is the club of my wrath! I send him against a godless nation, I dispatch him against people who anger me, to seize loot and snatch plunder, and to trample them down like mud in the streets."
Although Assyria did not know it was part of God's plan, God used this nation to judge His people. God accomplishes His plans in history despite people or nations who reject Him. He did not merely set the world in motion and let it go! Because our all-powerful, sovereign God is still in control today, we have security in a rapidly changing world.
This revelation is about the deeds of the end-time Germany-led European empire. God uses it as a tool to punish the nations of modern Israel, leading to the period of time known as 'Jacob's trouble', described in Jeremiah 30:7, where restoration of Israel is promised by God.
World War III is in motion. Daniel reveals a certain phase to it. In chapter 11, verses 40-44, Daniel says that the 'king of the south' (Arab empire) will attack the 'king of the north' (European empire). As a result a rapid counter-attack will lead to the overwhelming of the southern empire, gaining control over the region, specifically Egypt, Ethiopia and Libya. While this is happening, there will be a movement by some great eastern powers to enter the conflict, and as such, pushing the world to the brink of destruction. Present times are depressing. News reports are filled with violence, corruption, scandal, and political haggling. We start to wonder where is this world heading. Right before our eyes, at an ever increasing speed, immorality, crime, violence, poverty, sickness, disease, famine, and starvation stalk the Earth. International tension, strife between major nuclear powers, the internal upward spiral within nations of crime, race riots, and violence of any sort as well as the increasing external invasion of terror, is all very frightful. Terrorist groups, unable to attain their goals by conventional arm or diplomacy, now have access to such deadly weapons. Respectful advisers on international security warn the growing danger of nuclear weapons being used by the rogue nations or terrorist groups. Nuclear weapons are only one of several means of mass destruction available to unscrupulous leaders and terrorists bent on achieving their ends by any means, including mass carnage. These facts are combining to plunge the world into a holocaust of destruction and death such as never seen before - and never shall again!
However, there is inspiration and encouragement, because God will intervene to conquer evil.
Jesus Christ will return to save humanity!
Christianity faces the future with faith and confidence. Nothing will separate the Christians from the love of Christ.
"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written:
'For your sake we face death all day long, we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.'
No, in all of these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us."
Paul exclaims that it is impossible to be separated from Christ and in this faith, through the strength of Christ, Christians can be true conquerors. As Christians see hatred and violence intensify, they also understand that they should never repay evil for evil. Instead they are commanded to love their enemies and be peacemakers. Christians will not seek revenge but will instead love their neighbours. This is true and pure strength. This was Christ's example.
Meantime, sadly, terrorism, war, and violence will increase, but perpetual worldwide violence is not our fate. Let us practice peace, faith, and obedience to God.
Jesus Christ will return and establish God's Kingdom of peace, joy, safety and abundance as it is written in Revelation 17:14: They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because He is Lord of lords and King of kings - and with Him will be His called, chosen and faithful followers."
That is our hope, which goes beyond terrorism and beyond World War III.
That is when true Christianity will conquer terrorism!
END
